I bought the Mi A3 (White color) for effective price of Rs 10,499/- (₹1300/- SBI card discount + ₹1200 Amazon pay cashback) & following are my observations after 10 days of use.In the box:- Handset with built in battery.- Power brick. (5v, 2A)- USB to USB Type C cable.- Information leaflets.- Transparent soft case.DISPLAY:It comes with a 720p amoled display that is the most debatable topic on this phone. Honestly it is about personal preference and I would any day prefer a HD+ amoled display over a full HD IPS LCD display. I don’t watch streaming services on my phone and I am fan of dark themes on any apps which looks much better on an amoled display.Using phone under direct sunlight is not an issue but the only complaint I have with the display is that auto brightness is not at all well calibrated.RATING – 4/5BUILD QUALITY:PROS👍 One of those rare phones which can be used single handed and if you are a fan of small phones then you will like the form factor of this one👍 Gorilla glass 5 on the back and front as well as for the camera housing.👍 The class back shadows light at different angles and looks quite good if using a clear case or no case.👍 Comes with a dual sim hybrid slot and the reintroduction of SD card slot is a welcome change.👍 Single firing mono speaker at the botton is loud enough.👍 Supports the 5Ghz WiFi band (AC) too.👍 Comes with all the imp sensors (Accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass). Generally in this price segment reputed companies like Samsung have been known to emit some imp sensor to cut costs.👍 Unlike the MI A2, headphone jack is present on this phoneCONS👎 Notification LED is only of white colour.👎 In display fingerprint scanner is accurate but quite slow.RATING – 4.5/5PERFORMANCE:It has an Snapdragon 665 SoC, Octa-core (4×2.0 GHz Kryo 260 Gold & 4×1.8 GHz Kryo 260 Silver), Adreno 610 GPU with 4GB RAM and 64 GB inbuilt storage which is running on Android Pie. It will breeze through the daily tasks and performs well in gaming too. It is a mid tier chip but strong enough for day to day usage.I like stock android & not a big fan of custom UI (Personal opinion). Android 10 is expected in the next couple of months and this phone will certainly receive it before the other phones as it is a part of Android one program.I am not much of a gamer and for me the performance is good enough hence rating it wellRATING – 4.5/5BATTERY:Comes with a non removable 4030 mAh battery which is excellent thanks to 720p display, small screen size and and 11 NM power efficient processor. This phone supports quick charge 3 but the power brick in the box is a standard charger and takes about 2hr 15min to fully charge the phone from 10% to full. Quick charge 3 charger (18w) takes about 1hr 50 minutes for the same. The battery gives me SOT of about 7-8 hours on 4g and a general lasting period of about 30 hours. While using Wi-Fi it generally lasts for more than 36 hours sometimes even 2 days with 10+ hrs of SOTRATING – 5/5CAMERA:Comes 48 MP, f/1.8, (wide), 1/2″, 0.8µm, PDAF 8 MP, f/2.2, 13mm (ultrawide), 1/4″, 1.12µm 2 MP, f/2.4, depth sensor. Images are crisp & sharp with good details, dynamic range is decent but the images are a bit saturated. Shutter speed is excellent, takes a bit of time to focus but once it does then the images are excellent. Low light images are decent. Capable of recording videos @ 2160p & 1080p at 30/60/120 fps. Overall the camera fares very well for this segment. Has EIS for video stabilizationFront shooter is 32 MP, f/2.0, 0.8µm and seems to be good and does the job of clicking selfies well. Capable of shooting videos at 1080p.RATING – 4.5/5Attaching a few rear camera samples under different lighting conditions in auto mode.=======VERDICT=======Go for it if you want a phone with very good battery, a small form factor and amoled display with stock Android.Skip it if you are a heavy gamer or want a phone with a large screen to consume streaming services video in full HD.

Not for Everyone!
This is my review after extensively using the phone for 15 days and my phone is currently running October 5 Security Patch. Here are my ratings for important aspects of the device.—————————————————————————————————————————————Build Quality (9/10): Build quality is something that you will notice immediately as soon as you get the device in your hands. It’s sleek and compact design gives you a good in hand feel. It has a glass sandwich design with both front and back glass protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. But thing to note is the frame is made up of plastic with chrome finishing over it.Display (7/10): Display is one of the things that is most criticized after the launch. It sports a Super AMOLED 720p display. Yes, 720p is a downgrade compared to previous generation but AMOLED Display makes it up for me and it is not that bad as we are thinking. It’s not as crisp as FULL HD but is fine for day to day usage. The use of AMOLED also makes it possible for under display fingerprint sensors which is nice to have in this price range. I switched from a FULL HD IPS display and got used to it within 2-3 days. I would suggest before buying go to any local store and see it yourself if it’s fine for you.Camera (9/10): This device certainly has the best cameras for the price. Daylight shots from primary sensor are crisp and has nice details with excellent dynamic range. The 48 MP mode does not have good dynamic range but the images has a great amount of details. Wide angle is nice addition and shots are nice and well detailed. 2 MP depth sensor performs it’s work with good subject separation. I would have preferred a dedicated telephoto lens instead of depth sensor as AI based portraits are good now a days. During low light it has dedicated Night Mode option which improves image quality.Note: It has Level3 camera2api support so you can install GCAM mod to get better image quality.Performance (8/10): It has a slight upgrade from Mi A2 with Snapdragon 665 SoC on board coupled with 4/6 GB of RAM. Day to day tasks are butter smooth and software animations are nice and fluid. I did not face any sorts of lag or freezing with extensive use. Bonus is the use UFS 2.1 storage which is faster than EMMC storage which makes loading of apps and data transfer fast. It has support for AR Core which nice to have.I don’t play games on my device so can’t comment about it but reading other reviews I can say that is good for casual gaming. If gaming is top priority for you then there are other options to choose from.Software (8/10): This device has stock android and comes with Android 9 Pie. As a part of Android One Program you will get monthly security patch and two major Android Upgrades. Stock android is free of bloatware and ads which I personally like. But if you are switching from any device with custom skin such as MIUI, ColorOS etc you will not find features like call recorder, app lock, long screenshots etc are not available in stock android.Battery (10/10): Battery life is excellent in this device. It is due to the presence of AMOLED display and screen resolution being 720p. You can easily get 2 days battery life with low to moderate use and expect SOT of about 8 hours.—————————————————————————————————————————————CONS:->720p Display: I still would have preferred a 1080p LCD panel with rear mounted fingerprint sensor->Fingerprint Sensor: It’s slow as it takes about a second delay to unlock. You will get used to it after using the device for some days. This thing can be improved with software update.->Lack of NFC—————————————————————————————————————————————VERDICT: It is an excellent device for those who are looking for a device for day to day use with excellent cameras and battery life. If primary purpose is gaming then there are better options to go for.
